Maldives Backs Gaza Ceasefire, Calls for Unhindered Aid Access

The Maldives has reaffirmed its strong support for the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and has called for its full implementation by all parties involved.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed the outcomes of the Arab Six-Party Consultative Meeting held in Cairo, Egypt, on 1 February 2025. The government reiterated its commitment to upholding the ceasefire and stressed the need for all parties to ensure its full and effective enforcement.

The Maldives also called for urgent action to guarantee the swift and unhindered delivery of humanitarian assistance to all affected areas in Gaza. It emphasised the importance of immediate measures to facilitate the entry of aid for relief, shelter, and recovery efforts.

Additionally, the Maldives welcomed the initiative to host an international conference on the reconstruction of Gaza. It urged the international community to take concrete steps towards implementing a two-state solution, based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine.
