Maldives Considers Revision of Passport Entry Rules for Israeli Citizens

The Maldivian government has announced plans to revise entry regulations pertaining to Israeli citizens, as disclosed by Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, during a press briefing at the Presidential Office earlier today.
The decision, attributed to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu, aims to initiate amendments to existing laws to restrict Israeli nationals from entering Maldives, prompting the establishment of a dedicated committee for the task.
Ihusaan underscored ongoing efforts towards addressing the Palestinian conflict, citing discussions within the Cabinet on pertinent matters.
Concurrently, sporadic demonstrations in Maldives have advocated for the rejection of Israeli passports and the imposition of tourist entry bans from the nation.
Moreover, the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives has forwarded a letter to the President urging action on prohibiting Israeli passport holders from entry. However, as of now, no concrete steps have been taken in response to the appeal.
