Maldives Faces Adverse Weather as Southwest Monsoon Takes Hold

The Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) has announced that the Southwest monsoon is currently active over the region. 

Residents and visitors are advised to exercise caution over the next five days due to forecasts of strong winds, rough seas, and squally showers.

Average wind speeds are expected to range from 15 to 25 miles per hour in the northern and central areas, and from 13 to 23 miles per hour in the south, with gusts potentially reaching 45 to 55 miles per hour. Heavy squally showers and thunderstorms are also anticipated, along with possible wave surges during high tide.

Seafarers are particularly urged to stay informed about weather updates before planning any maritime activities.
