Maldives Hajj Corporation and Maldivian Sign Agreement for Pilgrimage Travel

The Maldives Hajj Corporation has signed an agreement with the national airline, Maldivian, to facilitate pilgrimage trips for this year.

The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs yesterday, 17 February 2025. Maldives Hajj Corporation’s Managing Director, Mohamed Shakeel, signed the agreement on behalf of the state-owned company, while Maldivian’s Managing Director, Ibrahim Iyas, represented the airline.
Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem, stated that Maldivians would once again be able to travel to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj pilgrimage via their national carrier, following years of efforts by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu. He also expressed gratitude to the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Mohamed Ameen, for his role in the initiative.
Maldivian has reported that at least 50 per cent of all Hajj pilgrims from the Maldives will be transported to Saudi Arabia by the airline this year.
