The Maldives Hajj Corporation has completed final preparations to welcome Maldivian pilgrims to Makkah for this year’s Hajj pilgrimage.
All Maldivian pilgrims travelling for Hajj this year will stay at the Al Balad At Tayyib Ajiyad Hotel in Makkah, which has been reserved exclusively for pilgrims from the Maldives. The 12-storey hotel consists of 355 rooms and will accommodate pilgrims under the Maldives’ quota of 1,000 pilgrims.
The arrangement is aimed at centralising accommodation and services in one location to provide convenience and support for pilgrims during the pilgrimage period.
The hotel includes facilities such as the Hajj Corporation Office, the Office of the Hajj Mission, a 24-hour help desk, a health clinic, a mosque, a conference hall, three restaurants, a kitchen, laundry services, a café and buggy transportation services within the premises.
Head of Marketing and Public Relations at the Maldives Hajj Corporation, Abdulla Muaz, said corporation staff were working to complete all remaining arrangements to ensure pilgrims receive the necessary care and support throughout the pilgrimage.
The corporation also introduced several improvements to the hotel in coordination with the property owner following last Ramadan’s Umrah season. Preparations included replacing carpets in guest rooms and carrying out cleaning, disinfection and refurbishment work across the hotel.
Rooms have been equipped with facilities including wardrobes, refrigerators, televisions, water dispensers and hot water systems. Room labels and informational signs have also been installed to assist pilgrims with accommodation arrangements and navigation inside the building.
The clinic has been fully equipped in line with required standards, while catering arrangements and transportation services have also been finalised. The corporation said the number of buggies available for transport within the hotel premises has been increased this year.
The corporation also confirmed that Nusuk cards for pilgrims have been labelled and prepared. The cards are required to be worn by pilgrims at all times for identification and security purposes.
