According to the authority, the raid was carried out between 16:00 and 18:00, during which officers searched 463 locations and inspected 932 foreigners. A total of 81 individuals were identified as residing illegally in the country and were subsequently taken into custody.
In addition, information on 10 locations where foreigners were suspected of engaging in illegal business activities was shared with the relevant authorities for further investigation.
The operation involved the participation of 160 immigration officers, 66 police officers, and representatives from other state agencies.
This forms part of a wider national operation aimed at identifying and deporting irregular foreign nationals. On Sunday, the same operation led to the detention of 24 foreigners in Male’ City.
Immigration has stated that the crackdown will be implemented in three phases, targeting both foreigners engaged in illegal trading and locals who facilitate such activities.
Controller General Ahmed Faseeh has previously noted that tackling these networks poses challenges due to the involvement of influential individuals and businesses, but stressed that effective results can only be achieved through determined efforts.
