Maldives Islamic Library Opens Tonight with 15,000 Books, Expanding Access to Knowledge

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs will open the Islamic Library tonight at Salman Mosque in Malé, with a collection of around 15,000 books.

This is part of the government’s plan, supported by President Dr . Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge, to open Islamic libraries across the Maldives, starting with Salman Mosque and continuing in Dhidhdhoo, Ungoofaaru, Thinadhoo, Addu City, and other locations.

In addition to the launch at Salman Mosque, the Ministry reports it has partnered with an overseas university to secure a donation of around 60,000 books to support similar libraries across the atolls 

Today’s opening marks the beginning of a broader rollout of Islamic libraries nationwide. Further ceremonies and library launches are expected in the coming months as the Ministry continues to enhance access to scholarly and religious materials across the archipelago.
