Maldives, Japan Explore Cooperation to Develop Sports Sector

Discussions have been held on ways Japan’s Ministry of Sports and other related agencies can support the development of athletes and sports in the Maldives.
The discussions took place during a meeting between Minister of Sports, Fitness and Recreation Abdulla Rafiu and the newly appointed Maldivian Ambassador to Japan, Ahmed Mahloof, with a focus on exploring potential cooperation with Japan to strengthen the Maldives’ sports sector.

Areas of possible assistance discussed included athlete training programmes, capacity-building initiatives, and support for sports professionals. The minister outlined key goals and priorities for the development of the sports sector in the Maldives, and both sides highlighted the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation in sports.
