Maldives Judiciary Facilitates Record Clearance for 2024 Election Candidates

The Maldives Judiciary has announced criminal and debt record clearance for candidates in the upcoming 2024 Parliamentary elections, with the nomination period running from January 31 to February 14, 2024.

Candidates seeking nomination are required to undergo record clearance, which will be facilitated on specific dates and times as follows:

  • Friday, February 2, 2024: 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, February 3, 2024: 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Friday, February 9, 2024: 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, February 10, 2024: 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The record clearance process will span a period of 5 days. Interested candidates are urged to carefully adhere to the submission guidelines. The requisite form, titled “Criminal and Debt Record Clearing Schedule 1,” can be obtained from the reception of the Judiciary department or downloaded from the department’s website at dja.gov.mv.
