The platform was inaugurated by State Minister for Tourism and Environment Mohamed Zaheen during the closing ceremony of the Magey Saafu Raajje National Symposium 2025.
Uthahi serves as a central hub for recording, maintaining and reporting waste management data. The system includes an administrative portal, a dedicated waste management module and a citizen-facing application designed to improve public access to information and services.
The Magey Saafu Raajje Symposium, formally inaugurated by the Ministry of Environment on 19 June, provided a nationwide forum to discuss sustainable waste management practices. Held in Gan, Laamu Atoll, from 24 to 26 November, the symposium addressed key challenges faced by the sector and explored opportunities for long-term improvements. It brought together participants to share ideas, develop actionable strategies and identify practical solutions tailored to the Maldives’ unique environmental context.
The event drew 200 attendees, including representatives from 88 islands across nine atolls, alongside government officials, industry specialists and stakeholders focused on advancing sustainable development in the country.
