Maldives Named World’s Best Destination for Heritage Cuisine

The Maldives has been recognised as the World’s Best Destination for Heritage Cuisine at the World Culinary Awards 2025.
The country received the top honour ahead of nominees including Germany, Peru, Seychelles, and Singapore.

Visit Maldives announced that several regional accolades in the Indian Ocean category were also secured. The Maldives was named Best Culinary Destination, while Malé City received the title of Best Culinary City Destination. The Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies at the Maldives National University was recognised as Best Culinary Training Institution.
Symphony Restaurant was named Best Landmark Restaurant, Hadaba at SO/ Maldives won Best Hotel Restaurant, and H2O Restaurant received the award for Best Culinary Experience.
Visit Maldives stated that the awards reflect the country’s growing reputation for culinary excellence and highlight efforts to showcase Maldivian chefs, restaurateurs, and local cuisine on the global stage. The organisation noted that the recognition demonstrates the Maldives’ ability to combine innovative approaches with traditional flavours to create world-class dining experiences.
The World Culinary Awards form part of the World Travel Awards portfolio and aim to celebrate outstanding achievements in the international culinary industry.
