Maldives Nominated For Two Global Honours At World Travel Awards 2025
The Maldives has once again been nominated at the World Travel Awards (WTA) 2025, after securing two major titles at the Indian Ocean level and advancing to compete in the World Category Awards.
The country is nominated for two of the most prestigious global accolades — World’s Leading Destination 2025 and World’s Leading Green Destination 2025. These nominations reaffirm the Maldives’ position as one of the world’s most sought-after holiday destinations.
The Maldives has a remarkable record at the World Travel Awards, having won the title of World’s Leading Destination for five consecutive years. The achievement reflects the nation’s continued global recognition for its natural beauty, luxury hospitality, and authentic cultural experiences.
This year, the nomination for World’s Leading Green Destination further highlights the Maldives’ growing focus on sustainability, environmental protection, and community-led conservation initiatives.
According to the Visit Maldives Corporation (VMC), winning these awards would strengthen the country’s reputation as not only a top travel destination but also a global leader in responsible and sustainable tourism.
The World Travel Awards, established in 1993, are regarded as the ultimate mark of excellence within the travel and tourism industry. The awards recognise exceptional achievements across all segments of the sector, drawing widespread international attention.
Voting for the 2025 edition will be open from 6 to 26 October. VMC has urged travellers, tourism professionals, and supporters around the world to cast their votes and help the Maldives achieve both global titles.
