Maldives Participates in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Abdulla Khaleel, has departed for the United Arab Emirates to attend the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026, scheduled in Abu Dhabi from 13 to 14 January.
The Maldives’ participation in the high-level forum reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and climate leadership, particularly as a small island developing state on the frontline of climate change. By engaging actively in multilateral platforms, the Maldives continues to contribute to international dialogue on renewable energy, climate resilience, innovation, and strengthened global cooperation in pursuit of sustainable development goals.
During the visit, Dr Khaleel is expected to meet with international counterparts and stakeholders, reinforcing the Maldives’ advocacy for ambitious climate action and collaborative solutions to address the disproportionate impacts of climate change on vulnerable nations.
He is accompanied by Additional Secretary Khadeeja Najeeha and Assistant Director Fathimath Reena from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
