Maldives Pension Office Disburses Over MVR 161 Million in February Payouts

According to the figures, over MVR 12 million was disbursed through the Maldives Retirement Pension Scheme (MRPS), benefiting 2,356 individuals. The scheme, funded through the MRPS fund, aims to provide a 50% income replacement upon retirement.
The Maldives Pension Office has released details of pension payouts for February 2025, highlighting distributions across various pension schemes funded by both the MRPS and the state.

The state-funded Basic Pension, designed to alleviate old-age poverty, accounted for the largest payout, exceeding MVR 115 million and reaching 24,499 beneficiaries.
Additionally, state-funded retirement benefits for former state employees amounted to over MVR 30 million, distributed among 4,952 recipients. Meanwhile, long-term service pensions and allowances, also covered by the state, saw payouts exceeding MVR 4 million for 2,439 beneficiaries.
The Pension Office’s latest data reflects ongoing efforts to support retirees and long-serving employees, ensuring financial security through various pension schemes.
