The contribution includes FRED systems and RAMAN spectroscopic devices, which are expected to significantly enhance the police’s investigative capabilities.
The donation forms part of ongoing efforts by the UNODC and the Maldivian government to strengthen the capacity of the police and expand their services across the country. Police services have now been restored in all residential islands.
In parallel, the development of a police cyber security operations centre and a data centre is underway. These facilities will serve as the nation’s primary hub for cyber operations, supporting the identification, response, prevention and reduction of digital crime threats.
