The Ambassador also underlined the significance of the OACPS-European Union partnership, stating that it holds the potential to deliver long-term economic benefits to member states, including the Maldives.
The OACPS was established in 1975 through the Georgetown Agreement and brings together African, Caribbean and Pacific nations. The Maldives became a full member of the organisation on 9 December 2022 and has since worked closely with other member states and the EU to address shared global challenges.
