Maldives Receives Thousands of Books for Islamic Centre Libraries

The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced that a foreign university has donated a large number of books to support the establishment of Islamic libraries at Islamic Centres being developed across the Maldives.

According to the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, the government has received a total of 60,000 books to equip libraries at the Dhidhdhoo Islamic Centre, Ungoofaru Islamic Centre, Thinadhoo Islamic Centre, Addu Islamic Centre, and other Islamic centres currently under development in various atolls.
The Ministry did not disclose the name of the university that made the donation.
Dr Shaheem stated that efforts would soon commence to develop libraries in islands where Islamic centres have already been inaugurated.
The establishment of Islamic libraries at Islamic centres in the atolls is one of the electoral pledges of President Dr Mohamed Muizzu.
The Ministry also highlighted that construction of the Islamic library at Salman Mosque in Malé is progressing rapidly.
