The Ministry of Environment stated that the funds will be used to upgrade weather observation systems at the four existing meteorological offices and to establish an additional office at Maafaru Airport in Noonu Atoll.
The aid will also be used to repair the Upper Air Radiosonde System in Addu City. The ministry added that some equipment needed for instrument calibration will be acquired with the help of regional countries.
