Gov’t to Donate 10 kg Rice and Flour Bags to Every Household

Government is also concurrently addressing the issue of the Maldives’ reliance on a single country for essential commodities such as rice, sugar, and flour. An agreement with Turkey has been reached, marking the first step in diversifying supply sources.

To underscore this commitment, Muizzu announced that the government will donate a 10 kg rice bag and a 10 kg flour bag to each household during Ramadan.

Muizzu announced that, for the first time this Ramadan, the government will donate a 10 kg rice bag and a 10 kg flour bag to every household, with plans to increase quantities next year.

President Muizzu conveyed his determination to reduce the country’s dependency on other nations and assured citizens of ongoing efforts to secure supplies of medicines and consumables from Europe and the United States.
