Maldives to Host First Hajj and Umrah Conference to Enhance Pilgrimage Services
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced plans for its first Hajj and Umrah Conference, an initiative focused on enhancing the services available to Maldivian pilgrims undertaking the sacred journeys of Hajj and Umrah.
The conference, scheduled for 31 October, was announced by the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, through a social media post.
Minister Shaheem stated that the conference will be open to organisations and service providers involved in supporting pilgrims, aiming to improve the quality and coordination of arrangements for Maldivian pilgrims.
Currently, Hajj pilgrims are travelling through the Maldives Hajj Corporation Limited, while the ministry has issued permits to 56 organisations to facilitate Umrah pilgrimage services.
This conference is part of a broader strategy by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs to support and develop religious activities within the Maldives, complementing previous efforts focused on enhancing the roles of Imams and religious scholars across the country.
