Maldives Zakat House Collects Over MVR 1.37 Million in First Week of Ramadan

The Maldives Zakat House said it received MVR 1,374,481 in Fitr Zakat during the first week of Ramadan.
Fitr Zakat must be paid before the end of Ramadan, prior to the commencement of Eid. MZH has accepted online payments since the first day of Ramadan, with arrangements made for contributions through seven digital platforms.
The available platforms are Dhiraagu Mobile App and Dhiraagu Pay, Ooredoo m-Faisaa Mobile App, Maldives Islamic Bank Mobile App, Bank of Maldives Mobile App, FahiPay Mobile App, Avas Mobile App, and the Bandeyri Pay website.
Zakat House stated that payments can be made through Bandeyri Pay and FahiPay until the final day of Ramadan. The remaining platforms will accept payments until 6:00 am on the 27th day of Ramadan.
In addition to online services, Zakat House began accepting Fitr Zakat via cash and card on 22 February, targeting individuals unfamiliar with digital payments. In Malé, collection counters opened at the Islamic Centre Conference Hall. In the atolls, this service is facilitated by the island councils.
For this Ramadan, the Fitr Zakat rates are set as follows: regular rice at MVR 12, Thailand white rice at MVR 53, red rice at MVR 96, regular basmati rice at MVR 77, premium basmati rice at MVR 109, super premium basmati rice at MVR 136, regular flour at MVR 10, and atta flour at MVR 75.
