The Maldives Zakat House has launched a new initiative encouraging members of the public to donate books related to the topic of Zakat.
The contributions aim to enrich the collections of the Islamic Library at King Salman Mosque and the Digital Library of Zakat House. The initiative seeks to strengthen Islamic educational resources and promote awareness of Zakat through both traditional and digital platforms.
According to Zakat House, the campaign represents an important step towards enhancing the availability of Islamic literature in the country. The organisation aims to expand access to comprehensive educational materials while making effective use of digital platforms to improve public understanding of Zakat among Maldivians.
Individuals and institutions interested in contributing can submit details of their book titles via email to info@zakathouse.gov.mv.
The initiative complements broader governmental efforts to expand Islamic literary resources across the Maldives. The Ministry of Islamic Affairs currently operates an online library offering Dhivehi translations of renowned religious texts, along with a variety of books and magazines.
This effort follows significant progress in the development of Islamic libraries in recent months. In September, Saudi Arabia’s Al Imam Mohammed Ibn Saud Islamic University donated 64,000 books to Islamic libraries across the country. The Ministry of Islamic Affairs described this as a major advancement towards establishing well-equipped Islamic libraries in different regions, supporting a key presidential pledge to promote access to Islamic knowledge.
