Maldives Zakat Housing Sets Deadlines for Zakat-al-Fitr Collection
Maldives Zakat Housing has outlined the deadlines for the collection of Zakat-al-Fitr, aiming to facilitate the process for the Muslim community.
Efforts have been made to streamline the payment procedure, with the introduction of online platforms alongside arrangements to offer services at the Islamic Ministry’s Hall.
The specified deadlines for the collection of Zakat-al-Fitr are as follows:
- For platforms other than Bandeyri Pay, the deadline is April 6th, 2359hrs.
- For Bandeyri Pay users, the deadline is the final day of Ramadan, with payments accepted until 1800hrs.
- Individuals utilizing counters at the Islamic Ministry’s halls have until 1400hrs on the last day of Ramadan to make their payments.
- Those opting to pay Zakat in terms of food staples must do so by the last day of Ramadan, with the deadline set at 1800hrs.
Zakat al-Fitr, a mandatory contribution for all Muslims, is designed to provide financial assistance to those in need following the conclusion of Ramadan. Instituted in the second year of Hijra, it applies universally within the Muslim community, irrespective of age or status. However, certain criteria must be met, including possessing adequate funds to support dependents with food and essentials on Eid day and night.
