Maldivian Increases Flights for School Holiday Period

The national airline, Maldivian, has announced additional flights to domestic destinations and India to accommodate increased demand during the upcoming school holiday period.
Each year, the airline introduces extra flights to manage the surge in travel, both within the Maldives and internationally. This year, additional services will be operated to 16 islands across the country, as well as to the Indian cities of Trivandrum and Cochin. The extended flight schedule will run from 22 June to 9 August.
Maldivian has confirmed the following dates for increased services to India:
- 25 July: Trivandrum, Cochin
- 27 July: Cochin
- 30 July: Trivandrum
- 3 August: Cochin
- 8 August: Trivandrum, Cochin
- 10 August: Trivandrum, Cochin
Travel during the school holidays is common among Maldivians, with many travelling for leisure or medical reasons. The airline has also previously expanded its operations during other major holidays to meet similar demand.
Maldivian currently operates a fleet of 25 aircraft, comprising a wide-body Airbus A330, a narrow-body Airbus A320, five ATR aircraft, eight Dash-8 aircraft, and 11 Twin Otter (Dash 6) seaplanes.
