Maldivian, the national carrier, has announced the launch of seasonal international services to Bangkok, Thailand, and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to meet expected demand during the December school holidays.

The airline will operate direct weekly flights to both destinations throughout December and January. This initiative continues Maldivian’s practice of offering temporary routes to cities popular with Maldivian travellers during school breaks.

Flights to Kuala Lumpur will depart every Sunday, with return fares set at USD 335. Services to Bangkok are scheduled for Tuesdays, with round-trip tickets priced at USD 399. Both routes will operate as non-stop services, and bookings are now open.

These new routes temporarily expand Maldivian’s international network, which currently includes scheduled operations to five cities across two countries, comprising three in China and two in India.

The announcement also underscores the airline’s broader strategic ambitions. Maldivian recently revealed plans to appoint an agent to support the expansion of services to South Korea, signalling its intent to enter new international markets and diversify its route portfolio.
