Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, has entered into a partnership with Ananthapuri Hospitals and Research Institute in Trivandrum, India, aimed at making overseas medical treatment more accessible for Maldivian travellers.

The agreement establishes a framework through which passengers flying on Maldivian to Trivandrum can access healthcare services at the hospital under a set of preferential arrangements. The collaboration is designed to make the process of travelling abroad for medical care more coordinated, linking air travel with hospital support services upon arrival.

India has long served as a primary destination for Maldivians seeking specialised medical treatment. Trivandrum in particular has become a key hub due to its geographical proximity to the Maldives and the availability of advanced medical facilities across a range of specialties.

Under the partnership, Maldivian passengers travelling to Trivandrum will be eligible for discounted healthcare services at Ananthapuri Hospitals. These include reduced rates for both outpatient and inpatient treatment, a 15 percent discount on health check-up packages, and a 10 percent reduction in costs for outpatient laboratory and radiology services. Patients will also be provided with complimentary ambulance transfer from Trivandrum International Airport to the hospital.

The arrangement also includes the establishment of a dedicated customer care desk at the hospital to assist Maldivian patients with appointments, medical coordination, and general support during their treatment journey. Additional assistance services, including language translation and support for senior citizens and critically ill patients, will be available to help ease the experience for travellers seeking care.

For many Maldivians, travelling abroad for medical treatment involves navigating both logistical and healthcare arrangements in unfamiliar environments. By linking airline travel with hospital services, the initiative aims to streamline that process and provide greater assurance for patients and their families.

The airline stated that the collaboration reflects its wider efforts to expand the value offered to passengers beyond transportation alone. By connecting travellers to services that support health and wellbeing, the partnership is intended to strengthen the role of Maldivian as not only a carrier but also a facilitator of essential cross-border services.

Maldivian currently operates domestic, seaplane and international routes, linking communities across the Maldives while connecting the country with key overseas destinations, including cities in India.
