Maldivian pilgrim safely repatriated from Saudi Arabia after falling ill during Umrah
A Maldivian pilgrim who fell ill while performing Umrah has been safely returned to the Maldives on a Maldivian Airlines flight.
The individual had been admitted to a hospital in Saudi Arabia after becoming unwell, and arrangements were made with the family to facilitate the return. A doctor and a nurse accompanied the patient on the flight to provide medical assistance if needed.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs reported that 7,726 Maldivians travelled for Umrah over the past two months, coinciding with the school holidays.
During this period, three Maldivian pilgrims died. They included a 62-year-old man who travelled under the Almanasik Hajj Umrah Group, and two others who travelled with the Safa Group and the Hijaz Group.
