Maldivian pilgrims return home after completing umrah pilgrimage

Maldivian pilgrims have begun returning to the country following the completion of their umrah pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia during Ramadan.

The first group of returning pilgrims arrived in Malé on Wednesday morning, with a flight operated for pilgrims under the Maldives Hajj Corporation landing at Velana International Airport at 09:30 am.

Arrivals are scheduled across two flights on the same day, with the first flight carrying 58 pilgrims and the second expected to bring back a further 60.

In total, the Maldives Hajj Corporation arranged umrah pilgrimages for 230 registered pilgrims during the Ramadan period. The corporation also provided assistance to 164 Maldivian pilgrims who were affected by flight cancellations linked to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, facilitating their travel arrangements and return to the Maldives.
