“Maldivians With Ceylon” Telethon Launches to Support Cyclone-Affected Sri Lankans

The “Maldivians with Ceylon” telethon, aimed at supporting Sri Lankans affected by Cyclone Ditwah, commenced this morning.
The initiative is being conducted by state media PSM in collaboration with 25 other local media outlets. The telethon began at 9:00 am and will continue until 1:00 am tomorrow. Fund donation boxes have been placed at various locations across Malé, Hulhumalé and Vilimalé, and contributions can also be made via bank transfers or cheques.

Donations in Maldivian Rufiyaa (MVR) can be deposited into BML account number 7730000796107, while donations in US dollars (USD) can be sent to BML account number 7730000796106.
PSM organised the telethon to provide a platform for Maldivians to extend assistance to their close neighbour in a time of need. The Maldives and Sri Lanka share a historically strong relationship.
In addition, the Maldivian government announced a donation of USD 50,000 and 25,000 cases of tuna cans to Sri Lanka to aid relief efforts.
