Malé City Council Opens Submissions for Disposal of Old Holy Qurans and Islamic Texts

Malé City Council has opened submissions for the disposal of old Holy Qurans and other Islamic religious texts.
In an announcement published in the Gazette on Thursday, the council said it will facilitate the proper disposal of materials submitted before Thursday, 29 January 2026. Submissions will be accepted between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., and again from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Eligible items include worn or old copies of the Holy Quran, teachings and sayings of Prophet Mohamed, and other Islamic religious texts.
Submissions can be made at Sinamalé 3 courtyard, the Malé City Council Vilimalé Section, or the Malé City Council Hulhumalé Office. The council previously stated that this initiative would be carried out twice a year.
