Deputy Mayor Nareesh commented on the budget after its presentation, highlighting that the Council currently owns certain types of vehicles that are not typically used in Male’. He noted that the Council has been receiving requests from both companies and private individuals to rent these vehicles.

He suggested that acquiring more of these vehicles could potentially generate significant revenue for the Council through rentals.

Councilor Mohamed Saif Fathih also addressed the meeting, raising concerns about the funding received by the Council. He pointed out that the Council has not been receiving the full amount allocated to it from the state budget, as required by law.

Fathih also noted that while last year’s proposed budget had exceeded expectations, the sum allocated for Male’ City Council in 2025 is MVR 23 million lower than the allocation for the previous year.
