This measure is being taken to ensure the safety of the public and to carry out necessary restoration efforts. Sewage sediment has accumulated over a 500-hectare stretch, resulting in muddy puddles up to a foot deep. These conditions pose a potential risk to beachgoers, prompting the council to take immediate action.
Restoration work began yesterday, with sand-laying operations planned to address the issue. The council has assured the public that the process will be completed promptly in order to restore the beach to its usual condition. The beach will remain closed until the work is finished.
Residents and visitors are advised to respect the temporary closure and avoid the area for safety reasons. While no specific completion date has been provided, the council will issue updates on the progress of the restoration.
