The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) has announced that water drainage in Malé has returned to normal following recent heavy rainfall, while efforts to manage flooding continue in various islands.

According to MNDF, a total of 16,911 tonnes of water were drained from the capital’s flooded roads, with assistance provided to 131 households. Additionally, 976 sandbags were placed to mitigate further water damage. With the situation stabilising in Malé, the drainage work in the city has been temporarily suspended.
