Man Arrested for Assaulting and Threatening His Mother in Hulhumalé

A 28-year-old man has been arrested in Hulhumalé, Maldives, on charges of physically assaulting his mother, threatening her life, and seizing her mobile phone.

The Maldives Police Service reported that Mohamed Ismail was taken into custody following an incident at the H13 Hiyaa Flat in Hulhumalé Phase 2. Police responded to a report of loud crying coming from an apartment in the H13 building. Upon arrival, they were met by a woman who explained the situation.

The woman, Ismail’s mother, informed the police that her son had assaulted her, inflicted injuries with a knife, and made threats to kill her before taking her mobile phone.

Authorities confirmed that the woman received medical treatment for her injuries and has since been discharged from the hospital.
