Man Arrested in Abduction Case Held in Remand Until Trial Ends
The Criminal Court has ordered that a man arrested in connection with an abduction case be held in remand custody until the conclusion of his trial.
Ibrahim Saeed, from Suvaasaage, S. Feydhoo, was apprehended yesterday for allegedly holding a person captive in a residence in Malé.
Police received reports on Wednesday regarding an individual being detained against their will in a house in the capital. Following an operation yesterday, officers rescued the 44-year-old Maldivian victim and arrested Saeed at the scene.
During the remand hearing, the court decided that Saeed should remain in detention until the trial is completed.
The motive behind the abduction remains unknown. Authorities have declined to provide further details, citing the ongoing investigation.
