Man Arrested in Drug Case Following Joint Police Operation in Haa Dhaalu Atoll

A man has been arrested in connection with a drug case following a joint operation by the Kulhudhuffushi City Police Station and HDh. Nolhivaram Police Station.
The suspect, identified as 48-year-old Ali Rasheed from Nolhivaram, was taken into custody on 29 October based on intelligence that he was attempting to smuggle drugs into HDh. Nolhivaram.

Police reported that the arrest was made after officers searched a box and a can brought ashore from a boat and discovered two packets of suspected narcotics.
Ali Rasheed was subsequently presented before the court and has been remanded for 15 days pending further investigation.
Authorities stated that the case remains under investigation. Drug-related offences continue to be a major social concern in the Maldives, with 1,615 cases reported to police so far this year.
