Man Detained in Drug Trafficking Case With Large Cash Seizure

A 23-year-old man has been arrested in connection with drug trafficking after police discovered more than MVR 100,000 in cash and a significant quantity of drugs.

Police confirmed that Haroon Jailam, from Kafidhooge in Lh. Hinnavaru, was detained on Wednesday in an operation carried out by the Police and the Drug Enforcement Department based on intelligence reports.

The drugs and cash were recovered during searches of an apartment and two motorcycles, which have since been impounded as part of the investigation.

Following his arrest, Haroon was presented before court and remanded in custody for 15 days. Police have said the investigation into the case remains ongoing.
