Man Dies After Fall From Sixth Floor in Malé City

A man has died after falling into the stairwell of a building in Malé City yesterday, police have confirmed.
The incident occurred at around 18:29 hours when the man reportedly fell from the sixth-floor ventilation shaft of a house in Maafannu, landing in the stairwell of the same building. He was transported to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The victim has been identified as Rathan, a 47-year-old Bangladeshi national.
Police have stated that further details will be shared as the investigation continues.
Incidents involving falls from upper floors of residential buildings have been reported in Malé in the past, raising public concern over the need for enhanced safety measures in high-rise structures.
