In an official statement released yesterday, MDP accused the opposition of intentionally disseminating false information with the goal of sowing fear in the run-up to the second round of the election.
The ruling party expressed its dismay over the actions of members from MDP, along with its coalition partner, the Adhaalath Party (AP), and various campaigners. Notably, MDP claimed that the opposition had employed similar tactics in the lead-up to the first round of voting.
Condemning these actions as a deceptive strategy aimed at gaining an advantage at this critical juncture, MDP asserted that such practices undermine the foundations of the democratic process.
The party urged citizens to exercise vigilance in the face of disinformation and emphasised the importance of casting their votes independently, free from any external influences.
