The Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) held a mega rally Fudhijje, Fundijje,” last night.
Fudhijje, Fundijje, meaning “We have had enough; it has been destroyed,” in Dhivehi, started from Artifical Beach on Male around 8:00 p.m. Party leadership attended the rally, including Chairperson of MDP Fayyaz Ismail.
MDP President Abdulla Shahid, said before the start of the rally, which was addressed to President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, that this rally conveys the message the people of the Maldives want to deliver to the president.
“The government has wronged the citizens. The government has fatigued the people. The people have had enough. The people have been destroyed,” Shahid said in Dhivehi.

Former Defence Minister Mariya Didi said the rally was held because President Muizzu had given them no choice.
“Muizzu watch [us]. Because [you] did not give us opportunities within the parliament and other places, we now have to come out to the streets,” Mariya said.
During the rally, various MDP officials spoke on issues such as housing, the Maldives’ universal healthcare service, Aasandha, and tobacco limitations. Many called on President Muizzu to resign.
Regarding the rally, the Spokesperson for the President’s Office, Heena Waleed said on X, was a show of this administration’s commitment to protect freedom of expression.
