The reduction is aimed at supporting smaller businesses and encouraging their participation in tourism promotion efforts. Visit Maldives will also offer these enterprises discounted access to roadshows and promotional activities, as well as opportunities to contribute content to marketing campaigns for resorts and guesthouses.

VMC CEO Ibrahim Shiuree highlighted the importance of SMEs in the development of the Maldives’ tourism sector, noting that the new measures will allow guesthouses, liveaboards and travel agencies in the atolls to gain wider exposure and play a greater role in maintaining the country as a leading tourist destination.
