Met Office Issues Adverse Weather Forecast for New Year
The Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office) has issued a forecast of adverse weather conditions for the northern and central atolls over the next three days, beginning today.
According to the Met Office, thunderstorms are expected to affect the northern and central regions, while the southern atolls are likely to experience scattered showers.

The announcement comes after severe weather earlier this month caused flooding that damaged homes in Malé and other atolls.
The forecast coincides with the school holidays, a time when many residents and tourists are expected to travel. The Met Office has urged seafarers to exercise caution and to stay informed of weather alerts during this period of inclement weather.
