MET Office Issues White Alerts from Noonu Atoll to Laamu Atoll

The Maldives Meteorological Service (MMS) has issued white alerts for the region spanning from Noonu Atoll to Lammu Atoll.

These alerts are in effect from 10:15 hours to 16:00 hours today.

The forecasts warns of heavy rain and thunderstorms with gusts wind reaching 40mph for the region between Baa Atoll and Laamu Atoll. A separate alert warned of strong winds of 19-24 mph with rough seas for the region.

Residents and visitors in the affected areas are advised by the MMS to remain vigilant and implement appropriate safety measures.

MMS categorises weather alerts as follows:

  • White alert: Alert Level 1
  • Yellow advisory: Alert Level 2
  • Orange warning: Alert Level 3
  • Red warning: Alert Level 4
