Maldives Meteorology Service (MMS) forecasts thunderstorms and torrential rains for central Maldives and announced a Yellow Alert advisory for the region.

The Yellow Alert will remain in effect for islands between Kaafu Atoll and Laamu Atoll until 2:00 p.m. today. The MMS had issued a White Alert earlier for a broader area, from Kaafu Atoll to Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, valid until 3:30 p.m. However, they later upgraded the warning to a stronger Yellow Alert for a more limited region.
