Minister Thoriq Ibrahim Inaugurates Third Edition of National Build Expo
Minister of Climate, Environment, and Energy Thoriq Ibrahim officially launched the third edition of the National Build Expo during a ceremony held at Central Park, Hulhumale’.
The expo, scheduled from 1500hrs to 2200hrs until January 14, seeks to foster the growth and promotion of various services and products within the construction industry.
The event serves as a pivotal platform for construction companies, facilitating the display of raw materials, heavy machinery, and other construction-related products. Over 70 companies are actively participating, presenting their services and products to the public.
In his address at the inauguration, Minister Thoriq underscored the significance of the construction industry, emphasising its role in projects of all scales, from minor initiatives to major endeavors such as airport development.
Citing data from the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), he pointed out that recent years have witnessed the development of 15 resorts and 323 guesthouses. The Ministry of Finances projects a robust annual growth of 7.7% in the construction industry for the next three years.
Minister Thoriq further articulated the potential collaboration between the construction sector and the ministry to identify eco-friendly construction methods and address environmental concerns during the construction process.
He also highlighted the ministry’s ongoing initiative to plant five million trees within a five-year timeframe, aiming to preserve the country’s delicate environment.
