Minister Muthalib highlighted the growing importance of climate-resilient housing, noting the need for solutions tailored to the unique needs of Maldivian island communities. “This handbook on resilient housing guidance for the Maldives is a key step forward,” he said.

The handbook, developed with input from Build Change and Riyan Private Limited, has been funded by the World Bank, the Global Facility for Disaster Risk Reduction and Recovery, the Japanese government, and the Climate Change Finance Gap Fund.

According to the Ministry, the handbook is designed to significantly improve the climate resilience of housing in the Maldives, helping communities better prepare for future challenges.
