Ministry of Agriculture Opens Scholarship Applications for Agricultural Studies
The Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare has announced the opening of scholarship applications for studies in the field of agriculture.
This opportunity is part of the ‘Transforming Fisheries Management in South-West Indian Ocean Region and Maldives’ project, a collaborative effort between the Maldives government and the World Bank.
The scholarship programme offers four opportunities for Bachelor’s degrees and one for a Master’s degree. Applicants for the Bachelor’s degree programme can choose from Agricultural Science, Animal Science, Botany and Entomology, or Natural Resource Management. The Master’s degree scholarship is available for Plant Protection.
The criteria for the scholarships have been officially published, and each applicant is limited to one full-time programme. To apply for the Master’s degree scholarship, candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and have at least two years of work experience in the same area. For the Bachelor’s degree scholarships, applicants must have achieved a minimum ‘C’ grade in five subjects in the GCE O/L examination or a ‘C’ grade or above in at least three subjects in the GCE A/L examination.
Students selected for the scholarship will be provided with the necessary documentation to obtain acceptance from a university recognised by the Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA).
Applications for the scholarships must be submitted to the Management Unit of the Ministry by 12:00 pm on 20 February.
