The Ministry of Islamic Affairs and Island Aviation Services Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in Hajj and Umrah affairs and related sectors.
The agreement was signed yesterday by Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed on behalf of the Ministry and Ibrahim Iyas for Island Aviation Services Limited.
The MoU aims to provide convenient, reliable, and efficient air travel for Maldivian pilgrims. Key objectives include increasing flight frequency between Malé and Jeddah, improving service quality, and streamlining travel arrangements for Hajj and Umrah.
The agreement also emphasises religious training for Island Aviation staff and ensures the airline’s participation in Ministry-organised programmes, including Hajj and Umrah conferences and awareness initiatives.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Dr Shaheem Ali Saeed commended Island Aviation’s efforts in serving Maldivian pilgrims and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening partnerships that enhance religious services and facilities for the public.
