Ministry Opens Submissions for Wildlife Photography Competition 2025

The Ministry of Tourism and Environment has opened submissions for a photography competition to celebrate Wildlife Day 2025.
The photography competition, open only to Maldivians, has three categories under which candidates can submit photographs under: wildlife photography, aerial (drone) photography, and habitat photography. Submissions are open until April 3 of this year.
According to the ministry, the highest scoring submission in each category will be rewarded as follows:
First place in the Wildlife category will receive DJI or GoPro Camera or an equivalent item
First place in the Aerial category will receive DJI Neo Drone or an equivalent item
First place in the Habitat category will receive DJI or GoPro Camera or an equivalent item
Additionally, the top ten submissions in each category will be featured in an Art Exhibition and compiled into an e-booklet.

Photographs can only be submitted to the competition if they have not been entered into any other competition or published elsewhere. By submitting their photographs, applicants grant the ministry a non-exclusive right to use them free of charge.
If the photographs feature people, applicants must obtain the necessary releases for publication and may need to provide them to the ministry upon request. The ministry does not allow AI-generated photographs. Any edits made to the images must be specified in the editing information section of the submission form. Additionally, watermarks on the borders of submissions are not permitted.
Employees of the ministry and its affiliated agencies are not eligible to participate. As outlined in the competition guideline, all submissions must comply with the country’s laws and regulations. The ministry reserves the right to disqualify any submission that involves human nudity, wilful harassment of wildlife, environmental damage caused by the photographer, endangerment of individuals or animals, or infringement on the rights of other photographers or individuals.
