The Ministry of Social and Family Development has announced its decision to introduce courses aimed at equipping individuals in the fields of social work and counselling.

In collaboration with Maldives National University (MNU), these courses are tailored for both existing Ministry employees within these sectors and public individuals keen on pursuing training in these specialised fields.

The inaugural round of courses encompasses a spectrum from advanced certificates to master’s degrees and is open to 100 candidates. This offering includes advanced certificate and bachelor’s degree courses in social service, along with bachelor’s degree courses in counselling.

Scheduled to commence in February, the courses will be conducted in two phases, with subsequent openings in August. Interested parties can access additional information about the courses through the MNU website.

The primary objective behind launching these courses is to extend educational and training opportunities to those with an interest in social work and counselling. With 19 centers dedicated to providing services to children and families under the Ministry’s umbrella, there is a strategic focus on ensuring that service providers are highly educated and trained in their respective fields.

This initiative aims to elevate the standards of expertise within the Ministry, ultimately benefiting the communities it serves.
